Irish Goat

Irish goat came from a client telling me about the wild goats roaming Donegal and how magnificent they were.

When I saw the images it made me wonder why I had not really studied their form before. I had been interested in Spanish goats as their lean appearance suited my way of working.
Irish goats hair being more bulky and layered makes them appear quite filled out in comparison. Yet there was something so majestic about their horns in contrast that I ended up loving the form.
I did struggle to create their course outer guard hair. I experimented and  worked  several different materials into the wax to try to recreate  this.
When casting in bronze it can be a gamble, sometimes your delicate textures can be lost in an immovable sold form but even the scratch marks I made survived the casting. I hope you like him.
