Omni-Directional Necklace
'As a jeweller with a passion for music, I took time away from my practice early in my career to study recording engineering and worked at a recording studio as an assistant engineer for a number of years, while continuing to make jewellery. I was very excited by the physics of sound, resulting in a collection of work concerned with the visualization of the sound waves associated with an omni-directional microphone. My Omni-Directional Brooch depicts the ever increasing 'invisible' lines (Yellow and White 18ct Gold) surrounding the microphone (Grey Freshwater Pearls) in the horizontal and vertical planes.'
Céline Traynor graduated in Fine Craft Design from the University of Ulster and set up a jewellery business in Dublin in 1997. Thoroughly contemporary in style, Céline's jewellery designs in silver and gold reflect her love of pure shape and form - they appeal to those with a minimalist aesthetic. In her own words, 'taking a studied, almost mathematical approach, I reduce the various forms to a balanced, geometric shape. The finished result is simple jewellery with a highly individual appearance.'
A true statement piece, this long pearl necklace features an intricate geometric pendant; its semi circular shape gently holds a 32 inch strand of silver pearls. Celine found inspiration for this range in the invisible lines of sound waves associated with an omni-directional microphone.
