I am a full time artist, based in Dublin, making work in Batik and Screen printing ."Calm was the day" is one of a series of unique screen prints that I started to work on a few years ago. In these prints I'm trying to capture a fleeting memory of a place seen from a fast moving train or car, to bring it alive again on the paper. I use a simple , traditional screen printing method to make my prints, the resist is painted on and the ink is acrylic paint with a medium added to stop it drying too quickly. I make varied editions but recently am doing more unique prints. I hope that the viewer will see beyond what is on the paper and reflect on the amazing ,colourful world of nature that is all around us.
