Sarah Little

The piece was created using acrylic ink on board. I'm drawn to this medium for its reactive, unpredictable nature. Its rich pigment and fluidity allow for wild atmospheric blending, translucent layers, and fragmented textures. Salt and masking fluid were employed to interrupt and manipulate the drying process, resulting in organic textures and controlled fragmentation.
As a visual artist and a novelist, my creative practice often overlaps between image and storytelling. For me, Stars Above and Below is a reflection on the people who guide us-the quiet resilience of those who live beside us, offering warmth and presence, and those we've lost, whose light still finds us, even from far away. Just like in writing, I aim to create a sense of place whilst leaving space for the viewer to bring their own story to the work.

Sarah Little is a writer and visual artist from Fermanagh. She is currently editing her debut young adult fiction novel, selected for Penguin's WriteNow Editorial Programme.
