I am a photographer living in Dublin. I have been exploring ways of creating images that inspire and stir curiosity more recently in portrait photography. I have been taking photographs for a number of years mainly though in landscape and wildlife photography which I love. Portrait photography is something I am exploring further and the different ways of creating compelling images.
This photograph 'Dad,Son and Granny' was inspired by the paper bag series by Inge Morath. It is a photograph of my own brother,nephew and my Mum but it could represent anyone's family. I wanted to create a series of images that modernized the original paper bag images and incorporate new technologies and scenes from now. This image is part of a wider project I am working on about identity and disguise. The masks that I create are drawn with exaggeration or abstract faces. The images are taken in everyday settings . I believe everyone wears a mask and these images are a playful yet poignant commentary on how people construct or conceal their identities with masks.
