Roadside Thistles
My work explores the shifting rhythms of the seasons and how the landscape responds to time and weather.
I am drawn to the hidden shifts and energies within dense foliage- ecosystems of plants and animals, evolving together, communities of life supporting each other.
Working in oil paint, I build up many layers of paint, describing texture and suggesting the 'dance' of the plant.
My process will begin with botanical studies,building form with detail. From there colour and movement take over suggesting the chaos of concentrated areas of growth.
