My work, 'Untitled 134 (after Matisse)', was made as a series of 27 paintings, in 2017 - 18 that looked at Matisse paintings between 1914-18 in which he made a series of radical paintings that showed 'the means of production', by that I mean the making of the painting from start to completion was left visible. My series was called 'Homage' and I still use Matisse as an inspiration.
I am fascinated by windows, not only by their visual possibilities that they provide to create depth and distance but for their philosophical and metaphorical resonances. In and out, internal and external, enter and exit - acting as frames that both connect us to our external and internal worlds and our spatial and psychological existence.
