All is collateral when feeding the soul
Oil on canvas   100cm x 65cm

This self portrait was painted in Valencia, Spain, over the Winter. It was a temporary studio I was renting, a large patio on the 13th floor of a stand alone building with wraparound glass windows, towering over the beach. I completed a lot of pieces during the months and at the end of my time there I found I had been thinking about how much we all put into our works, the endless tweaking and addition, the disappointing subtractions and reworking. For in the end, it needs to be right, it will be right and we are always driving for its perfection, regardless of how many hours pass or how close the deadline is, onwards we go and time keeps on passing and we will keep on giving, for the works are omnipotent and "all is collateral when feeding the soul".
