Sunlit: This painting shows twelve portraits, each figure bathed in dramatic sunlight and shadow. There is a diverse range of faces-young and old, with varied hairstyles, accessories, and expressions-united by the play of light that cuts across their features. Together, the portraits form a collective study of human emotion and identity, bound by light.
Rory O'Neill/Panti: This painting depicts Rory O'Neill AKA Panti Bliss, in his dressing room. Rory is a friend of my husband's from art college where they both studied graphic design. Rory O'Neill, best known by his drag persona Panti Bliss. He is an Irish performer, activist, and LGBTQ+ advocate and has been a central figure in Ireland's queer cultural scene for decades, blending sharp wit, glamour, and political commentary in his performances. Panti rose to international prominence after his 2014 "Noble Call" speech at Dublin's Abbey Theatre, which powerfully addressed homophobia and equality, becoming a viral moment in the lead-up to Ireland's historic marriage equality referendum. Beyond the stage, O'Neill continues to use his voice and platform to champion inclusion, visibility, and human rights.
