My inspiration for "The Water Boys" was mostly based on my early memories of growing up in a rural setting where stories of forests inhabited by colourful animal characters, like 'The Wind in the Willows', seemed very real.
There were few distractions then so storybooks and your own imagination made for a wondrous & adventurous world.
