Local round

I was hoping to capture a sense of the summer's end in this painting. 'Local round' refers to the fact that this particular fox is following paths that it knows very well, being resident here. The summer migrants have left and the challenges of winter lie ahead.  Somehow the landscape reflects solitude, the lone fox walking out of the picture.

Force 8

Its always a challenge to try to convey a sense of movement in a painting - I hope I've managed to do that in this piece. The Eider Duck is one of the fastest birds in level flight. The high horizon gives plenty of room to suggest moving water. The splashing white wave on the left together with the black rock in the foreground lead to a triangular shape with the Duck. Two opposing movements are suggested - the sea from right to left, the duck left to right.
