TEACHERS’ PREVIEW

A Teacher’s Preview event will be held on the first Saturday of the exhibition. The tour will be led by Betty Brown, PRUA. A free catalogue will be available for every teacher who attends.

SELF GUIDED TOURS

School groups of any age, led by their own teachers, can come along and enjoy the exhibition on Wednesdays and Fridays during Ulster Museum opening hours. It is useful for Academy staff to know when schools hope to arrive. Please email schools@royalulsteracademy.org with a proposed date and time.

SPECIAL EVENTS

In addition to the above opportunities the Academy has organised a series of special events for schools as follows:

Meet the Artist’ Key stage 3, 4 or A Level 

Students will be given a 45min guided tour, focusing on those works in the same medium as used by the artist. These sessions, which will last about an hour, will include a demonstration and an informal discussion about the artist’s work.

Sources & Inspirations‘ – A Level

‘Sources & Inspirations’ will give AS and A2 pupils the opportunity to hear professional artists talk about the origin and development of their ideas, view original studies of the artists’ work and ask questions. Students will be encouraged to share their own thoughts during the session.

These sessions will run on Thursdays from 11.00am – 12.15pm on the following dates in the Lecture Theatre (Ulster Museum)

Colin Davidson

Colin Davidson is a contemporary artist, living and working near Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Since graduating with a first class honours degree from the Art and Design Faculty at the University of Ulster in 1991, Colin Davidson has exhibited extensively in London, New York, Milan and across Ireland. He has been shown regularly at the Royal Hibernian Academy Annual Exhibition, where he has twice won awards, and has been an Academician of the Royal Ulster Academy since 2006, having won the R.U.A. Gold Medal three times and the Silver Medal twice.

Colin Davidson’s work is in public and corporate collections across Ireland, including the Arts Council for Northern Ireland, the BBC, the National Self-Portrait Collection of Ireland, Limerick, the Office of Public Works Collection, Ireland, the Law Society of Ireland and Queen’s University, Belfast. A selection of portraits of writers and actors from Colin’s latest body of work is presently on display in the newly-reopened Lyric Theatre, Belfast.
